Vauxhall is a town in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Municipal District of Taber, in the prairie land between Bow River and Oldman River. The town population as of 2006 Canada Census was 1069 residents.The major economic base for the area is agriculture and agricultural related industry, with a secondary realization in the oil and gas exploration area. There is a growing market developing in the value added industry in the fields of vegetable processing and livestock feed production. A large portion of products developed in Vauxhall reach international markets.
Vauxhall is known as the "Potato Capital of the West". Agristar Foods Ltd has been producing the "Gourmet" brand of potato granules and Agristar Produce grows, packs and ships quality potatoes.
The Lethbridge Community College and Taber Campus - Taber and District provide adult education such as academic upgrading, basic reading, writing and math skills. Health care facilities include the Taber & District Health Care Complex which provides medical services to Vauxhall. Local services include the Associate Medical Centre and the Chinook Health Region Community Health.
The focal point of the town's recreation facilities is the Recreation Complex, which houses an ice arena, community hall and curling rink. Other facilities include baseball diamonds, a golf course, school gymnasiums for badminton, basketball and volleyball, boating, fishing, hunting, parks, tennis courts, a racquetball / wally ball court, and an outdoor swimming pool. There is also the Lions Park and Campground, located 1 mile north of town, along Highway # 36. You can experience the hills, trees, water and the beautiful 9 hole golf course just 2 miles southwest of town. Fishermen can relax and enjoy some of the finest lakes in southern Alberta, and big game and bird hunters rave about their bounties. Boating facilities and campgrounds are plentiful in the entire district. This is Vauxhall, wide open spaces where one can see for miles, appreciating magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The spaciousness, complemented with occasional rolling hills and growth of trees makes for some spectacular viewing.
