The Safe and Trusted Canada website is presented in English. You may use your browser's translation feature to view the website in your preferred language. Safe and Trusted Canada creates and maintains Information Only Profiles using publicly available business information. Safe and Trusted Canada goes beyond business names, reviews, and star ratings. Business Detail

Creston is a town of 4,826 people in the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The town is located just a few kilometers north of the Porthill, Idaho border crossing into the United States and about a three-hour drive north from Spokane, Washington. It is about a one-hour drive southwest from Cranbrook, British Columbia along the Crowsnest Highway. Due to its close proximity to the U.S. border, many businesses in the town accept American currency.

The Creston Valley's economy is largely resource-based with agriculture and forestry most important. Many are employed in the service sector, and tourism is increasingly prominent, while government services and education comprise a large portion of the labour force. Since 1959, Kokanee beer has been brewed in Creston at the Columbia Brewery. The town is also home to two grain elevators. Many apple, cherry, pear, and plum orchards grow around the town, and the Valley is also an important dairy centre. The Skimmerhorn Winery is now producing award-winning wines, and the valley shows great promise as a wine region, with other growers cultivating vines. Creston offers visitors shopping facilities in both downtown and the Mall. Campgrounds and RV parks are plentiful. There are many recreational facilities available, including an outdoor swimming pool at the Recreation Center tennis courts, horseshoe pits, curling rink, hockey arena, ball parks, soccer field, jogging track, golf courses, and many beautiful parks for outdoor relaxation. Motels and hotels are abundant throughout the Creston area. Numerous restaurants that cater to all tastes for dining in or take out are plentiful in the area. Retirement in Creston and area has shown steady growth, with approximately 42% of the Valley's population over 55 years of age. Many activities and facilities in the Valley are, therefore, targeted towards this age group.
