Petawawa is a town located in the Canadian province of Ontario. Situated in the Ottawa Valley, with a population of 14,651 (2006 Census). Petawawa is the most populous municipality in Renfrew County.

Petawawa's primary employer is the Canadian Government. Most of Petawawa's residents work as civilian employees, or as members of the Canadian Forces at CFB Petawawa which is home to 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.

Another major employer is Atomic Energy of Canada Limited located nearby in Chalk River.

Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley is the largest of Algonquin's satellite campuses and serves more than 550 full-time students. In addition the college provides continuing education training to more than a thousand students each year, and also offers customized training to businesses throughout the Ottawa Valley. Founded in 1878, Pembroke Regional Hospital is a 203 bed, acute care community hospital located on the Ottawa River 150 km. northwest of Ottawa. The hospital serves approximately 100,000 residents, providing quality care to those in Pembroke/Petawawa and surrounding communities. The hospital has been designated as a District Stroke Centre and will launch a Nuclear Medicine Program in the Fall of 2006. Petawawa is a very active and involved community, enjoying numerous sports and recreation facilities and programs twelve months of the year. We have literally dozens of sports teams for all ages including men and women"s hockey, soccer, tennis and baseball. It is the rare weekend that goes by without a sporting tournament of one variety or another being hosted in town. The facilities for these activities are largely housed at the Petawawa Civic Centre, or in and around Dundonald Hall and the Silver Dart Arena at CFB Petawawa. Other local facilities include the North and South Side Recreation Complexes, two golf courses, a driving range, several beaches and swimming areas, the Legion Hall, Lions Community Hall, a marina and several boat launching facilities, as well as numerous outdoor skating rinks. Centennial Park Waterfront (the Catwalk) is supervised seven days a week starting 3rd week of June through mid August from 10 am to 6 pm. Fun for the whole family. This facility is equipped with washroom and picnic facilities, walking trail, gazebo, outdoor chapel, and performing arts centre. Point Petawawa Point is another sandy spot in Petawawa that draws the crowds once the warm weather is upon us. It is an unsupervised area. This beach is equipped with children's playground, beach volleyball court, washrooms, picnic facilities, and canteen services open from the May long weekend through Labour Day.
