Business Detail

St. Marys is a town in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Thames River southwest of Stratford in County of Perth. St. Marys has a population of 6617 as of the 2006 Census.

The town is also known by its nickname, "The Stone Town", due to the abundance of limestone in the surrounding area, giving rise to a large number of limestone buildings and homes throughout the town. St. Marys Cement, a large cement producer founded in the town, capitalized on this close feedstock, and grew to be a major producer of cement in the province of Ontario.

In the riverbed and along the banks, limestone was close to the surface and could be quarried for building materials. Many 19th century limestone structures survive: churches, commercial blocks, the opera house, town hall, public library and private homes.

The arrival of the Grand Trunk Railway in the late 1850s spurred growth and soon St. Marys became a centre for milling, grain-trading and the manufacture of agriculture-related products. The railway connected the town to the rest of the world and framed the local landscape with its two large trestle bridges on limestone pillars across the waterways.

The St. Marys Recreation Department strives to provide affordable quality programs to meet the needs of the community. Diverse programs, services and facilities that encourage health, fitness, recreational, educational and social opportunities enhance the value of life for all citizens.

St. Marys is filled with a variety of park areas that offer quiet moments of solitude or hours of activity.

St. Marys is a historic town with a progressive attitude. Our motto is "Carved in Stone, Etched In History" and we proudly proclaim that St. Marys is "The Town Worth Living In". We are open for business and, in the practice of small town hospitality, we invite and encourage you to visit us.

Possible Regions

Every business can access any trade area in Canada.  A contractor can access other trade areas, understanding that they may need a municipal license for those areas.  A company that markets to other trade areas to draw consumers to its business location requires a municipal license for its trade area only.  The number of trade areas depends on the subscription type; the Professional subscription allows 20.  Businesses can purchase extra trade areas.  Businesses with Account Status can eliminate this content section at any time.
